LANSING, MI — Halloween spirit will mix with civic engagement later this month as the Lansing City Clerk’s Office partners with community organizations to host Souls to the Polls: Trunk-or-Treat, a family-friendly event designed to encourage voter participation.
Th e event will take place Saturday, Oct. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of the Lansing Elections Office, 701 W. Jolly Road.
The outdoor celebration will feature decorated vehicles offering candy, toys, and giveaways, creating a safe trunk-or-treating experience for families. Inside the Elections Office, children and adults can take part in a mock “Halloween election,” casting ballots for their favorite candy, Halloween character, and even on a proposal to share candy with kids unable to trick-or-treat.
Alongside the festivities, Lansing voters will also be able to cast their official ballots through Michigan’s new early voting option, which allows any registered voter in the city to vote in person before Election Day.
“We are so excited to be able to work with community partners to engage the community and educate our youth about voting,” said Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope. “At the same time, we can provide this new option for early voting which will be convenient for many people with very busy schedules.”
