Spartans Close December Strong with 70–64 Win Over Rutgers

EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State Spartans women’s basketball closed out December on a high note, defeating the Rutgers Scarlet Knights women’s basketball 70–64 in Big Ten action.

Michigan State was led by Rashunda Jones (#1), who paced the Spartans with 14 points. Kennedy Blair (#35) added a strong all-around performance with 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while Spainard Inés Sotelo (#10) also chipped in 12 points to give MSU balanced scoring on the offensive end.

Rutgers was led by Nene Ndiaya (#10), who finished with a game-high 16 points, keeping the Scarlet Knights within striking distance throughout the contest.

With the victory, Michigan State capped a solid December run, going 4–1 during the month. The Spartans picked up wins over DePaul, Indiana State, Ole Miss, and Rutgers, with their lone loss coming on the road at Wisconsin in Madison.
