LANSING, MI (2-6-26) — KJ Torbert (#2) delivered a spectacular scoring performance Tuesday night, pouring in 39 points to lead the East Lansing Trojans to an 81–64 road victory over the Waverly Warriors.
The game was tightly contested through the first half, with both teams trading baskets and momentum. As the second quarter came to a close, Torbort knocked down a clutch three-pointer at the buzzer, tying the score at 34–34 and sending the teams into halftime deadlocked.
Waverly continued to apply pressure in the third quarter and trailed by just five points heading into the fourth, keeping the contest within reach. However, East Lansing’s offensive firepower proved too much down the stretch.
The Trojans exploded in the final period, outscoring Waverly 28–16 in the fourth quarter to pull away and secure the 17-point win. Torbert led the charge, scoring at all three levels while consistently breaking down the defense.
East Lansing also received key contributions from Tyree Anthony (#4), who finished with 11 points, and Kellen Lott (#10), who added 10 points, providing balance alongside Torbert’s scoring outburst.
For Waverly, Ali Kayden (#3) led the Warriors with 24 points, while Xavier Pendergrass (#24) chipped in 17 points in the loss.
With the victory, East Lansing remains unbeaten and atop the state rankings at 17–0, continuing its dominant run this season. Waverly falls to 12–4 despite a competitive effort on its home floor.
