EAST LANSING, MI (2-8-26)— The Iowa Hawkeyes showed their depth and firepower Friday night at Jenison Field House, winning nine of ten bouts to defeat the Michigan State Spartans 40–6.
@HawkeyeWrestle controlled the dual from the opening whistle, earning six technical falls and two major or regular decisions. Iowa’s only loss on the night came by forfeit at 197 pounds, where Michigan State’s Kael Wisler (#23) was awarded the bout by default.
At 125 pounds, #6 Dean Peterson opened the night with a 12–2 major decision over Nick Corday to put Iowa on the board. The Hawkeyes followed with back-to-back technical falls from #9 Drake Ayala (133) and Kale Peterson (141), extending the lead to 14–0.
The momentum continued as #18 Ryder Block (149), Victor Voinovich III (157), and #3 Michael Caliendo (165) all secured bonus-point victories. At 174 and 184 pounds, #3 Patrick Kennedy and Gabe Arnold added technical falls to push the score to 37–0.
Michigan State’s lone team points came at 197 pounds via forfeit, before #8 Ben Kueter closed the night for Iowa with an 8–1 decision over Josh Terrill in the heavyweight bout.
The decisive performance reinforced Iowa’s status as one of the top programs in the nation as Big Ten competition continues.
