FRANKENMUTH, MI (2-13-26) — The Freeland Falcons came into enemy territory with one goal in mind: redemption.

After falling at home to the Frankenmuth Eagles on Jan. 9, 2026, 47-43, the Falcons returned the favor Friday night — and did so in dramatic fashion. Behind 19 points from Tristin Comer (#13) and a clutch fourth-quarter performance by Wilson Huckeby (#14), Freeland snapped Frankenmuth’s undefeated season with a 54-48 victory.

The game unfolded as a back-and-forth battle from the opening tip.

Freeland held a slim 8-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter, setting the tone for a defensive grind. By halftime, the Eagles had clawed back to even the score at 19-19, energizing the home crowd.

Frankenmuth surged ahead in the third quarter, outscoring the Falcons to take a 38-34 lead into the final period. Tedford (#0) paced the Eagles with 14 points, while Hoard (#4) added 11, helping the home team appear poised to protect its perfect record.

But the fourth quarter belonged to Huckeby and the Falcons.

Huckeby was flawless at the free-throw line down the stretch, going 7-for-7 in the final frame to ice the game. His composure, paired with Comer’s steady offensive presence, fueled a 20-point fourth quarter that silenced the gym.

Freeland’s defensive pressure and poise at the line proved to be the difference, as the Falcons closed the contest on a decisive run to secure the six-point upset.

With the win, Freeland not only avenged its earlier loss but also delivered a statement victory by handing Frankenmuth its first defeat of the season.With the victory, Sexton improves to 18–2 on the season, while Eastern falls to 7–11.
