EAST LANSING, MI (3-21-26) — The Ishpeming Hematites delivered a commanding performance on the biggest stage, capturing the MHSAA Division 4 Girls Basketball Championship with a decisive 48-28 victory over the Portland St. Patrick Shamrocks at the Breslin Center.
Ishpeming set the tone early and never looked back, using balanced scoring, suffocating defense, and dominant interior play to secure the state title.
After a competitive opening quarter that saw St. Patrick take a brief 13-14 deficit, the Shamrocks went ice cold in the second period—failing to score—while the Hematites surged ahead with a 15-point quarter to build a commanding halftime lead.
Leading the charge for Ishpeming was Jenenssa Eagle (#3), who poured in a game-high 19 points, while Mya Hemmer (#14) delivered a monster performance with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 9 blocks—controlling the paint on both ends and anchoring the defense.
The Shamrocks were led by Gracelyn Rockey (#3), who finished with 10 points, including 6 in the opening quarter before Ishpeming’s defense tightened.
