ANN ARBOR, MI (4-18-26) — Under chilly skies and threatening clouds, the Michigan Wolverines were able to avoid the rain Saturday afternoon and complete their annual spring football game in front of fans at Michigan Stadium.

While the weather cooperated, the offense did not.

Team Maize slipped past Team Blue, 7-6, in a scrimmage dominated by defense, physical line play, and limited explosive moments. The lone touchdown did not arrive until the closing stages, capping a contest that leaned heavily toward the defenders all afternoon.

Both sides struggled to establish rhythm offensively as quarterbacks faced steady pressure and rushing lanes were difficult to find. The result was a low-scoring battle that showcased tackling, pursuit, and discipline more than highlight-reel plays.

For the Wolverines coaching staff, however, spring games are less about style points and more about evaluation. Saturday offered another chance to assess depth across the roster, identify emerging contributors, and continue building toward the fall season.

Fans in attendance were still able to get an early glimpse of Michigan football in Ann Arbor, even if points were at a premium.

With spring practice now nearing its conclusion, attention turns to summer workouts and preparations for the 2026 campaign, where the Wolverines will look to turn defensive promise into another strong season.
