FLINT, MI — The Flint City Bucks are one win away from playing for a USL League Two championship after a dominant 4-0 victory over Peoria City in the USL League Two Playoffs Quarterfinals on Friday night at Atwood Stadium.

Flint City controlled the match from start to finish, using an early own goal and three second-half tallies to secure its place in the national semifinals.

The Bucks opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Peoria City’s Jackson Kasanzu inadvertently redirected the ball into his own net, giving the home side a 1-0 advantage.

After taking the slim lead into halftime, Flint City erupted after the break.

Forward Remi Agunbiade (#27) doubled the advantage in the 47th minute, putting the Bucks firmly in control. Just 15 minutes later, Callum Shillington (#13) found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to extend the lead to 3-0 and all but put the match out of reach.

The Bucks added one final exclamation point during stoppage time when Jordy Lopez (#9) scored in the first minute of added time (90’+1), completing the 4-0 rout.

The victory continues Flint City’s impressive postseason run and sends the club into the USL League Two National Semifinal, where the Bucks will host Ventura County Fusion, who advanced with a 2-1 victory over Ballard FC.

The national semifinal is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, at Atwood Stadium in Flint. The winner will earn a berth in the USL League Two Final, which will be played on Saturday, Aug. 1.

Flint City has now won consecutive playoff matches at home and will once again have the opportunity to play in front of its supporters with a national championship appearance on the line.
