YPSILANTI, MI — No. 21 Miami (Ohio) brought its unblemished Division I record into the Gervin GameAbove Center and left with it intact, defeating Eastern Michigan 74-64 in a game that showcased the RedHawks’ balance and defensive discipline.

The Eagles hoped to halt Miami’s winning streak on their home floor but found themselves chasing the tempo early. The RedHawks built a double-digit lead in the first half and never relinquished control, leading for 99 percent of the contest and stretching their advantage to as many as 26 points.

Miami placed four players in double figures, led by Brant Byers (#22) with 16 points and Antwone Woolfolk (#13) who added 14. Peter Suder (#5) contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds, controlling the glass and anchoring the interior presence. Off the bench, Almar Atlason (#11) chipped in 12 points, giving the RedHawks the scoring depth that has defined their undefeated run.

Despite shooting just 18 percent from three-point range (5-of-28), Miami made up for it inside, scoring 40 points in the paint and capitalizing on Eastern Michigan’s miscues. The RedHawks committed only four turnovers, converting Eagles mistakes into 20 points. That efficiency proved to be the difference.

Eastern Michigan was paced by Gregory Lawson II (#0), who poured in a game-high 29 points, connecting on six three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line. Mohammad Habhab (#4) added 10 points, while Godslove Nwabude (#13) controlled the boards with 10 rebounds and five blocks, helping the Eagles stay competitive on the defensive end.

The Eagles finished shooting 34 percent from the field (21-of-61) but struggled to generate consistent offense in the paint, scoring just 26 interior points. Though they edged Miami in assists (12-11) and matched them on the boards (44-46), turnovers and second-chance opportunities ultimately swung momentum toward the visitors.

With the win, Miami (Ohio) remains the only undefeated Division I team, continuing to build its résumé as conference play intensifies. Eastern Michigan will look to regroup and sharpen its offensive execution as it prepares for its next matchup.
