Notre Dame Faces Nation’s Best, Falls 100–56 in Packed Pavilion

SOUTH BEND, IN (2-24-26) — No. 1 Duke delivered a commanding performance inside Purcell Pavilion, rolling past Notre Dame 100–56 before a sellout crowd of 9,149 fans.
From the opening tip, the Blue Devils set the tone with defensive intensity and efficient shot-making, leading for 99 percent of the contest and building a lead that swelled to as many as 46 points. Duke shot 46 percent from the field, knocked down 12 three-pointers, and converted an impressive 34-of-38 from the free-throw line (89 percent).
Freshman standout Cameron Boozer (#12) led all scorers with 24 points in just 24 minutes of action, adding 13 rebounds for a dominant double-double. Boozer was efficient across the board, going 5-of-8 from the floor, 2-of-2 from beyond the arc, and 12-of-14 at the charity stripe while anchoring the paint on both ends.
Duke’s balanced attack featured five starters in double figures. Patrick Ngongba II (#21) added 13 points, Caleb Foster (#1) chipped in 13, and Isaiah Evans (#3) contributed 10. Off the bench, Darren Harris (#8) provided a spark with 16 points, while Cayden Boozer (#2) tallied 10.
The Blue Devils dominated the glass, outrebounding the Fighting Irish 49–27, including 14 offensive boards that led to second-chance opportunities. Duke also forced 15 Notre Dame turnovers, turning them into 23 points, while registering 11 steals to fuel transition buckets.
Notre Dame struggled to find rhythm offensively, shooting 37 percent from the field and just 27 percent from three-point range. Brady Koehler (#6) and Cole Certa (#5) each scored 14 points to pace the Irish, while Sir Mohammed (#13) added 11 off the bench. However, the home team was unable to generate sustained runs against Duke’s length and pressure defense.
Duke outscored Notre Dame 19–3 in fast-break points and held a 30–22 edge in points in the paint, showcasing their versatility both inside and beyond the arc.
For the Blue Devils, the victory reinforces why they remain the nation’s top-ranked team, combining depth, athleticism, and disciplined execution on both ends of the floor. For Notre Dame, the matchup offered a measuring stick against elite competition in front of a packed home crowd.
