LANSING, MI (2-27-26) — On a neutral floor at Don Johnson Fieldhouse, the No. 6 Sexton J-Dubbs delivered a poised and physical performance, defeating the Charlotte Orioles 56-41 to capture the MHSAA Division 2 District 49 championship.

With both teams battling for postseason survival, Sexton established control through disciplined half-court defense and efficient scoring stretches that created separation in the second half. Charlotte remained competitive early, but the J-Dubbs’ ability to string together stops and convert in transition ultimately proved decisive.

The victory sends Sexton into the Division 2 Regional 13 semifinals, where they will face the 20-3 Michigan Center Cardinals at 7 p.m. on March 3 at Fowlerville High School.

Chelsea and Marshall will meet in the opening semifinal at 5:30 p.m. at the same site, with the winners advancing to the regional championship game scheduled for 7 p.m. on March 5, also at Fowlerville.

While the district trophy marks an important milestone, the ultimate goal remains ahead. The Division 2 state championship will be decided at the Breslin Center in East Lansing later in March, and Sexton now turns its focus to taking the next step in that journey.
